The Woman Behind the Lens
Hey there! My name is Evelyn and here is a little about me...
I am the 5th Evelyn in a long line of strong, empowered, creative, artistic women, yet I am the only one left.
My grandmother, Mary Evelyn, recieved her PhD in Math Education and was an Oil Painter; she passed away when I was 7 years old.
My mother, Evelyn Anne, was a photographer and strong southern woman who loved horseback riding and good margaritas;
she passed away when I was 11 years old.
My daughter, Evelyn Ryann, was only with us for 3 weeks in the NICU, yet she managed to make me a stronger and more determined woman in the short time that she was here on this earth. After her loss, I realized that I needed a BIG change.
In 2015, I quit my full time job as a Program Director for Recreation and Wellness at a local university and began freelancing as a crocheter and photographer. Although I have photographed everything... weddings, engagements, families, portraits, fitness, events, animals, nature, etc, etc. I LOVE connecting with people and being behind the camera. I get so much joy seeing a clients ideas come to life in a photograph and to help them see themselves in a positive and empowering way. I am naturally a very positive (permanent rose colored glasses for sure...) and open person; this has allowed me to easily connect with others- letting them open up & be themselves with no judgement. I want to get to know my clients, I want to be a friend-
not just their photographer (I guess my spirit animal would be a puppy..ha!)
Not only do I want to be your friend, I want to see you succeed, I want to support you and this is why I also focus on offering
affordable photography to my local businesses, freelancers, makers, artists and entrepreneurs.
I cherish every single photo that I still have of my mother, daughter and grandmother and I truly believe that loss has allowed me to better connect with others and understand what they need from their photographer (and their friend). I have embraced the fact that I am a creative soul who is meant to help, connect with, support and empower those around me and feel lucky that I have had the opportunity to chase my dreams.
I would love the chance to meet you, speak with you and help you capture whatever moments you want to have and keep for years to come!
